BasaSebenza ("we," "our," or "the App") is a job recruitment platform connecting job seekers and employers in Zimbabwe. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using BasaSebenza, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information from Job Seekers

• Full name, email address, and phone number
• Profile photo (optional)
• CV/resume documents you upload, or CV content you enter using our in-app CV builder
• Job applications, saved jobs, and companies you follow
• Your stated experience level / job grade (used to personalize job recommendations)

1.2 Information from Employers

• Company name, email address, phone number, and physical address
• Industry, employee count, and company description
• Company logo
• Business verification documents, including Certificate of Incorporation and ZIMRA Tax Clearance (where provided)
• Contact person name and title

1.3 AI HR Interview Feature

If you choose to use our AI-assisted interview feature, we collect and process, with your consent at the time of use:

• Live video and audio during the interview session (via Agora RTC video calling)
• Camera access for facial expression and confidence analysis (via Google ML Kit), used only to generate feedback during your interview session
• Microphone access for speech-to-text transcription of your interview answers

This data is used solely to generate interview feedback and is not used for any other purpose. Camera and microphone access only occur while you are actively using this feature.

1.4 Payment Information

BasaSebenza facilitates payments for services such as CV generation fees and employer ad campaigns via EcoCash, OneMoney, and similar mobile money services. We do not collect or store your mobile money PIN or full payment credentials — payment is processed through the relevant mobile money provider, and we retain only a payment reference/confirmation for record-keeping.

1.5 Advertising Data

BasaSebenza uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, and ad interaction data in accordance with Google's own privacy practices. You can review Google's practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

1.6 Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect limited technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app usage data (e.g. job views, ad impressions and clicks) to help us maintain and improve the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Match job seekers with relevant job postings
• Allow employers to post jobs, review applicants, and run ad campaigns
• Verify employer legitimacy before approving company accounts
• Process payments for CV generation and ad campaigns
• Provide the AI interview feedback feature
• Communicate with you about your account, applications, or platform updates
• Improve the App's functionality, security, and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

• With employers: When you apply for a job, your name, contact details, CV, and cover letter are shared with the employer who posted that job.
• With job seekers: Approved company profiles (name, logo, industry, description) are visible to job seekers browsing or applying to jobs.
• With service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and file storage; Google AdMob for advertising; and Agora for video calling infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
• For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BasaSebenza, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore database and Cloud Storage), which applies industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit. We apply access-control rules so that only authorized users (yourself, the relevant employer for applications, and platform administrators) can access your data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

• Job applications are automatically removed approximately 7 days after the associated job's application deadline has passed.
• Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 8).
• Company verification documents are retained for as long as the company account remains active, for compliance and verification purposes.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• Access and correction: You can view and update most of your profile information directly within the App.
• Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us at the email below.
• Camera/microphone permissions: These are only requested when you actively choose to use the AI interview feature, and you may decline or revoke this permission through your device settings at any time — this will simply prevent you from using that specific feature.
• Ad personalization: You can manage ad personalization settings through your device's Google Ads settings.

7. Children's Privacy

BasaSebenza is intended for users who are at least 18 years old, or the legal working age in their jurisdiction, as it is a job recruitment platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
